Hughson Hawley

Illustrator and architectural painter Hughson Hawley was born in England in 1850. He emigrated to the United States in 1879 when he was invited to paint scenery for the Madison Square Theater. Within the year, he brought his family to NY and had established a studio dedicated mainly to architectural rendering. Furthermore, he did illustrations for various magazines such as Harper's Weekly, Century, and Scribner's. At the time of his death, he was said to have executed over 11,000 commissions.
