Addison Thomas Millar

(American, 1860 - 1913)

The painter and printmaker Addison Thomas Millar was born in Warren, Ohio. He studied under William Merritt Chase in New York and then with Jean Joseph Benjamin Constant and Jean Giovanni Boldini in Paris. Examples of his etchings are in the New York Public Libary, the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. His paintings may be found in the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence and the Detroit Institute of Arts. Millar was a member of the Salmagundi Club of New York and the Silvermine Group of Artists. He died in a car accident in Norwalk, Connecticut.
