Name: K. Scott Cameron
Dates: (b. 1946)
Nationality: American
Biography: Born in 1946, Scott Cameron is a contemporary American artist trained in the art of oil painting, working in the tonalist and luminist styles. Cameron grew up in Long Island, New York, attended Long Island University where he studied under Willem de Kooning, and later studied architecture and painting at the Pratt Institute. Cameron began to pursue painting seriously in 1982. After a move to Delaware, the Delaware River became a frequent backdrop for his maritime works which portrayed nineteenth-century steam vessels executed in traditional nineteenth-century style.

When his interests turned towards the wetlands of the Chesapeake Bay and the Delaware coastlines, he established his representative tonalist style. From a fascination with the wetlands, he began an artistic re-discovery of the New England coast depicting both nautical and rural scenes. The great blue heron, common near the shores and wetlands of North America, is a choice wildlife depiction for Cameron, representing the calm sanctuary of the coast.

Cameron's work can be found in the collections of several corporations including MBNA/Bank of America, Delaware Trust, and DuPont.
