Name: Charles Henry Fromuth

Nationality: American
Biography: The marine artist Charles Henry Fromuth was born in the "Fishtown" section of Philadelphia and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with Thomas Eakins. He went to Paris and trained at the Académie Julian from 1888 until 1890, the year that he first went to Brittany and visited the coastal town Concarneau. Fromuth spent the rest of his career there, producing vibrant plein air pastels and charcoal sketches of the harbor.
