Fine American and European Paintings - February 2015
Thomas Moran (Sunrise at Mid-Ocean)
[view online]

February 25, 2015

An exhibition and sale of 80 important American and European paintings. A fully-illustrated catalog entitled Fine American and European Paintings accompanies the exhibition.

The catalog comprises a select group of important American and European portraits, landscape and marine views, still life subjects, and genre scenes. Ranging from 1766 to 2014, these paintings represent many different periods and styles of art. Although many of their creators are well known to collectors and museum curators, we have chosen to include some exceptionally fine works by lesser known painters.

The exhibition features a seascape by Thomas Moran. Dubbed the "Dean of American Painters" in his last years by the press, Moran is best known for his grand romantic views of the American West and is represented in many major American museum collections.

The Schwarz Gallery is located in a Center City Philadelphia townhouse near Rittenhouse Square. We welcome visitors Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 6pm, Saturdays by appointment.
