Thomas Sully, in his "Account of Pictures," recorded that he painted this impressive "kit kat" size portrait of Reverend Peter Van Pelt's second wife "Miss Turner" between April 12 and July 4, 1832. It is accompanied by an earlier portrait--with matching frame--of Reverend Van Pelt attributed to John Neagle (1796-1865).
It is offered as part of a pair.
