Frank Waller studied at the National Academy of Design and later exhibited there, as well as the Brooklyn Art Association and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Around 1872 he toured Egypt with a friend and fellow artist Edwin White and thereafter became noted for his Egyptian landscapes, especially romantic views of archeological ruins and native life along the Nile.
