Provenance: Estate of Mr. Leland G. Howard

A pupil of Rembrandt Peale, Harriet Cany became his second wife, marrying him in the late 1830s. She exhibited numerous landscapes, still lifes, portraits and genre works at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
 
Franz Peter Schubert was a prolific Austrian composer, having written some 600 songs, nine symphonies (including the famous "Unfinished Symphony"), liturgical music, operas, some incidental music, and a large body of chamber and solo piano music.
