Hezekiah Harvey Baldwin (1790-1826), the second son of Hezekiah Baldwin and Elizabeth Hine of Woodbridge, Connecticut, graduated from Yale University in 1810. He studied chemistry in Paris before moving to New York City where he set up a plant to manufacture sulfuric acid. In 1813, Baldwin married Polly Clark of Woodbridge. They had two children, Nathan Clark and Charlotte. The family returned to Woodbridge in 1824, when Baldwin's health began to fail.
