Born in Philadelphia, the watercolorist Philip Jamison, Jr., studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art. He was an instructor of watercolor at the Philadelphia College of Art (now called the University of the Arts) from 1961 to 1963. He exhibited widely, most notably at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts from 1949 to 1969, and at the National Academy of Design from 1956 to 1971, and won numerous awards.

Jamison’s work was featured in a number of solo exhibitions at Hirschl and Adler Galleries in New York between 1959 and 1971, and was included in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “200 Years of Watercolor Painting in America” exhibition in 1967. Jamison wrote Capturing Nature in Watercolor (1980) and Making Your Paintings Work (1984). A resident of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Jamison is a regionalist artist who paints the local landscape.
