An exhibition and sale of pastels by Charles Henry Fromuth is now open to the public.
The marine artist Charles Henry Fromuth was born in the "Fishtown" section of Philadelphia and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with Thomas Eakins. He went to Paris and trained at the Académie Julian from 1888 until 1890, the year that he first went to Brittany and visited the coastal town Concarneau. Fromuth spent the rest of his career there, producing vibrant plein air pastels and charcoal sketches of the harbor.
The Schwarz Gallery is located in a Center City Philadelphia townhouse near Rittenhouse Square. We welcome visitors Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 6pm, Saturday 10am to 5pm.
