Born in Paxton, Illinois, Frederic A. Tellander studied in Paris and Rome. He worked as a commercial artist, most notably for the Studebaker Corporation during World War II. Tellander exhibited throughout the American Midwest, especially at the Art Institute of Chicago, where he showed ninety-three works between 1910 and 1941. He was also a member of the Chicago Galleries Association.
