Frank Licini
(dates unknown)
Atlantic City Boardwalk
Oil on canvas, 24 × 30 inches
Signed at lower right: “Licini”
The only facts that have emerged about Frank Licini are that he lived in Philadelphia
and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.1 The structure overlooking
the ocean at the right was located on the Atlantic City boardwalk across from
the Convention Center. A lifeguard tent appears on the left of the composition.
The strong Fauve flavor of this painting suggests that Licini was influenced
by French modernism.
