Inscribed on verso: “Krick/414 Plane St./Newark/N.J.”
David M. Krick was listed in the 1912 Newark city directory as an artist living
at 414 Plane Street. Nothing else is known about him. This highly attractive,
Impressionistic image of an unknown woman set against a snowy winter landscape
indicates that he was a talented portraitist, which makes it all the more surprising
that the artist’s reputation has completely lapsed into obscurity.
