Little is known about the life of Cecilia Cain other than that she was born
in Bordentown, New Jersey, and attended St. Joseph’s Academy. Like her contemporaries
Amelia Rumsey Patterson (see plate 50)
and Ella N. Griffith (see plate 63),
she was a still-life painter whose identity is just beginning to emerge.
