Name: Pierre Justin Ouvrié

Nationality: French
Biography: During his lifetime Pierre-Justin Ouvrié was well-known for the cityscapes in oil and watercolor that he exhibited for forty years at the Paris Salon. He was born in Paris and, after training with an architect, painted commissioned portraits and worked as a lithographer. Ouvrié began to exhibit at the Salon in 1831, and shortly thereafter traveled extensively around Europe painting romantic landscapes and city views, some of which were used as illustrations in travel books. He was elected a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1854, and died in Rouen.
