Biography: The landscape painter George W. Drew (1875-1968) was born in New York and studied with John Califano (1864-1946) and Henry Pember Smith (1854-1907); the latter exerted a strong influence on his work. A member of the Society of Independent Artists, Drew exhibited at the National Academy of Design, the Allied Arts of America, the Salons of American Independent Artists, and various other places. He was active throughout New York state and New England, and his most significant undertaking was a mural for the Salons of American Independent Artists, New York.
