Nationality: American, born Holland
Biography: The still-life and sporting painter Arnould Wydeveld was born in Nijmegen, Holland. He arrived in the United States about 1855 and established himself as a still-life painter in New York City, where he worked until 1865. He then returned to Holland, where he had an exhibition in Amsterdam, but in 1867 he was back in New York, remaining there for the rest of his life. He exhibited at the Washington (D.C.) Art Association in 1857 and 1859, at the National Academy of Design in New York from 1861 to 1888 (including Basket of Apples and Grapes in 1861 and Rustic Basket of Ivy, Canary and Gold Fish in 1863), at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia (his painting Fruit was shown there in 1862), and at the Brooklyn Art Institute in 1864 and 1874.
