|Biography: ||Henry Ferguson was born in Glens Falls, New York. He had no formal artistic training but in 1876 he studied for two years in Paris and Rome. Prior to that, he had spent the years from 1870 1873 painting landscapes in Chile. After traveling from Venice to Egypt in 1878, Ferguson returned to the States in 1879 and remained here for two years before journeying to Mexico and Europe.|
He exhibited at the National Academy of Design, New York City, and was elected an Associate Member in 1884. He also showed work at the Pennsylvania, Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, and at the Century Association, New York City, of which he was also a member.
